FUNDRAISING
Fundraisers are FRIES-Doyon’s main source of income. For the 2011-2012 school year, we have several fundraising opportunities taking place and we appreciate your assistance. With an emphasis on spending the money on those students who have raised it, funds are needed for the year’s activities and budget requests. Here are the highlights of each of these fundraisers; if you’d like to help out with any of these efforts, please contact Fundraising Chair Jessica Murphy at jedwardsmurphy@yahoo.com:
Coins for a C.A.U.S.E. (Coins Add Up to Support Education) - Got a jar of change at home? Help out FRIES-Doyon and cash it in at the nearest Institution for Savings branch during the designated month (September 2011). Each time customers convert their coins to paper currency using any of the bank’s coin counting machines, the bank will donate 100 percent of the 5 percent user fee to FRIES-Doyon.
Doyon Dines Out - Treat yourself to a night of take-out or eat-in and benefit our school at the same time! Present our certificate and FRIES-Doyon receives part of the proceeds from your order. Certificates will be available in the Doyon News and here on our website (they'll be posted under "Upcoming Events and Current News").
Genevieve’s Catalog Sale - Thank you for your orders. We had a very successful campaign this year!
Giftwrap, candles, coffee cakes and more are available through our annual kickoff fundraiser in September. Orders will be due in early October, and items will be in before Thanksgiving. In addition to the prizes shown in the brochure, FRIES-Doyon has some special incentives this year. Sell 6 or more items and receive a pass to CoCo Key Water Resort in Danvers. Sell $100.00 or more and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a night at the Ferncroft (now the Crowne Plaza Boston North Shore) and four passes to CoCo Key. Online orders are also welcomed; just use the order number 2961 when ordering through the Genvieve’s website at http://www.genevieves.com.
Other 2011-2012 fundraisers are scheduled to include:
- Doyon Devours Books, our wintertime read-a-thon, where our students seek out pledges for the number of minutes they read over a two-week time period - a great indoor fundraiser, many students are able to add the time they read in class to their home reading. Books-on-tape and being read to also count towards a student’s total minutes for this fundraiser.
- Doyon-a-thon, our school’s annual walk-a-thon fundraiser, usually held in May. Students are given pledge books and seek pledges based on the number of laps they walk. Parents are notified of the Doyon-a-thon date well in advance, and volunteers are welcome to assist with the day’s activities.
- BoxTops for Education is a fundraiser which includes three annual collections. Each trimester, the classroom with the most BoxTops collected wins a Sal's pizza party. BoxTops can be clipped from many popular grocery items (no longer just cereal boxes) and they can also be accrued from the accompanying Marketplace and Reading Room online shopping sites, sponsored by General Mills. Doyon School receives ten cents for every BoxTop collected. In the 2010-2011 school year, FRIES raised over $2400 through BoxTops.
- eBoxTops are easy to earn: Shopping through the BoxTops Marketplace website will also award Doyon additional BoxTop points. Just sign up at www.boxtops4education.com, designate the Paul F. Doyon School as YOUR school, and start shopping! Using the BoxTops Marketplace as your starting point for all online shopping, just click on the links to any one of over 100 favorite online stores. The BoxTops Reading Room is also available specifically for purchases from Barnes & Noble.
